We hope you all had a great Thanksgiving with your family. We spent the day preparing for our upcoming trip and eating way too much turkey & stuffing! Tomorrow is Black Friday and you'll be bombarded with all the ads and sales but don't forget Small Business Saturday is coming and you have a chance to make a difference in your community by supporting small & family run businesses.
Same routine as before, but this time we want you to tell us if you prefer a fishing vest or a pack, and give us up to 3 sentences on why you prefer the one you use. You must leave your answer as a comment here in the blog. We will accept entries until next Wednesday at noon and then we will put all the names in a hat and Brooke will draw the winner which we will announce in next week's blog.
Black Friday is upon us and we’ve got some great prizes so don't forget to enter – why not do it now! On the pile is a 2022 Angler's Calendar, a dozen super buggers, and a brook trout canister.
Good Luck!

Our Season's Over
We wrapped up the last of our guiding this week. It's time, the water is cold and fish are not moving around much except for spawning activity. We had some dry fly action up to the very end with small olives and beetles on warm afternoons but most of the fishing was underneath, no surprise. There will be some hardy souls out on warm days over the next few months but most anglers will look forward to saltwater destinations, steelhead, the southern hemisphere, or to next spring.
We thank everyone who came for guiding, instructions, and corporate groups. We were blessed with a fantastic year of great clients, good waters and good fishing. We hope to see all of you back again in 2022.
I prefer a vest to enable me to have close access to all the things I might need right on my body.
I prefer a vest. Mine is a Fishpond model no longer made. It has three pockets on the back, one of which perfectly fits a Thermacell unit. The front has plenty of pockets of varying sizes for all of my gear, including two large interior pockets that hold my cigar case, cutter and lighter.
Happy Thanksgiving! My preference is a pack. I like the option of taking the weight off of me and tossing my gear on shore. They accept long handle nets better, in my experience. Packs are also useful beyond fishing.
I used a vest for years spincasting. When I started fly fishing 2 years ago, I switched to a pack. My grandson now proudly wears "grandma's vest". I like the compact convenience of a pack.
I prefer a vest. First, it is easier to retrieve my net to land a fish and return the net to my D ring on the back of my vest. More importantly, when using a pack, I cannot see the stream bottom in front of me and where I am putting my feet! With some packs, I can handle my net the same as with a vest, but I still cannot see my feet, and that is a dealbreaker!
