Just a quick hello, I just got back from cloudy Belize and found out that we have a room open on our second week at Pira Lodge, January 17-24 in Northern Argentina. Honestly this is rare especially since it always sells out but someone was holding it and has now backed out. In my opinion, fishing out of Pira offers the best golden dorado fishing in the world. It is without question my favorite fish aside from trout. The fishing takes place in the Iberia marsh and we fish out of Hells Bay skiffs. The marsh is alive with birds and wildlife. January is the perfect time to go someplace warm and temperatures at Pira can climb into the high 90’s  so we fish early and later in the day . The reports from my guide friends at Pira say there’s lots of water and lots of fish. There was a record 30+ pounder recently- that's a huge fish . Before I knew about the Pira opening I had planned to offer our June Ireland departure on this week's blog so I'm going to include it as well. This is definitely a fly fishing destination where an angler can take a spouse or non-angler. We work with one of the best tour guides in the area. Our host and fly shop owner Andrew Ryan has private beats on the little Niri and on the world-famous Suri. This is European trout fishing at its best and all the while the non angler can be exploring the villages and county side with our tour guide. We work out of a local hotel whose owners welcome us back each year with their Irish hospitality. It's a great destination that I look forward to each year. Getting to Ireland is easy and we go through US customs in Ireland before coming home which makes it that much easier.
