Africa Photo Safari

July 19- August 4, 2022

Note: The above dates are 99% certain, there is a chance the departure could shift a day or two in either direction. Dates will be confirmed soon.

Join us on an exclusive Frontiers hosted safari in East Africa, offering a superb combination of game viewing and safari camps in Kenya and Tanzania. Whether you're a serious photographer, a cellphone shooter, or just along for the ride, this is an incredible safari.

We have carefully designed this itinerary to include four of the best camps in East Africa – Kenya's Kichwa Tembo Masai Mara Tented Camp, Tanzania's Serengeti Under Canvas, Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, and concluding the trip in one of the most architecturally spectacular safari properties in Africa, the Ngorongoro Crater Lodge. Each location provides a distinctive African experience providing insight into the unique flora and fauna found in the regions.

Upon arrival in Africa, our group will spend a relaxing night in Nairobi before starting the safari. Our first stop, located in the remote northwestern part of the Masai Mara Game Reserve, Kichwa Tembo features breathtaking vistas, abundant wildlife and endless plains. The Masai Mara combines some of the richest game viewing on the planet, and Kichwa beautifully blends deluxe tent life with exciting game drives and a cheerful camp atmosphere in open air dining where guests can watch their mouth watering meals being prepared from garden to table.

After flying from Kenya to Tanzania, we will sleep under canvas in a classic tented camp at Serengeti Under Canvas. This luxurious tented camp moves around the park bringing guests within reach of the Great Migration and exploring remote, beautiful corners of the Serengeti. The annual movement of over one and a half million wildebeest and about 200,000 zebras and 500,000 Thomson's gazelle flow from the northern hills to the southern plains, and then west and north after the spring rains. So strong is the ancient instinct to move that no drought, gorge or crocodile infested river can hold them back. To witness the migration is truly a life-changing experience.

Lake Manyara Tree Lodge, famous for tree-climbing lions, is the only lodge in the National Park offering a wilderness experience in diverse habitats, from its Rift Valley Soda Lake to the dense woodlands and steep mountainsides. Cradled in the boughs of ancient mahogany trees, the Tree Lodge melts into the natural beauty of the forest. Stilted treehouse suites weave a sophisticated blend of intimacy and elegance, offering privacy and exclusivity in the cool, leafy surroundings with elephant visitors passing through.

Our last stop will be the lavish Ngorongoro Crater Lodge, located on the rim of the largest intact caldera in the world. A permanent population of more than 20,000 animals inhabit a mere 100 square miles in the 200 feet deep crater, making this one of the few places where one might see the entire Big Five in the course of a single game drive. The lodge itself has been called, “The game lodge at the top of the world” and is world renown for its eclectic blend of teak paneling, Victorian furnishings and whimsical African touches, all creating an atmosphere that is as elegant and unique as the Crater itself!

Please note that this departure is limited to 12 guests based on double occupancy accommodations. A 2022 itinerary is not yet available, but we offer the 2021 edition, and with the exception of a slight date shift and price adjustment, the itinerary accurately describes the departure.

We hope that you can join us on this incredible journey!
