Beck's Online Store
We started out January with a couple weeks of technical problems with the web site, we're still working on that, but at least now I can now focus on new fly patterns for the store. We're expanding the fly selection to include more mayflies, caddis, terrestrial patterns, nymphs, soft hackles, emergers and streamers. When we're done with freshwater, we'll start working on our saltwater section. From time to time we'll be featuring a fly pattern in the blog. We invite you to check in now and then over the next couple of months to see what's new.
Upstream or Downstream Mend?
Here is an short piece on mending line. Phil Monahan, former Alaskan guide and long-time editor of American Angler Magazine gives us tips on how to know which direction we should mend the line to achieve a longer drag free drift. Remember when you're making the mend, to be careful that you don't move the fly or you will create tension by straightening the leader which will result in drag at the fly. Having slack in the cast, to be used when you make the mend, will help prevent this situation.
