We are Listening

IMG 2043
We hear when you say, “our kids would love this,” or “do you teach kids to fly fish?” and similar comments, and want your families to enjoy and experience where we live and what we do out here in the country.

We have partnered with Springdale Farm and The Lodge at Raven Creek and by working together we now have the unique opportunity to offer families the chance to build their own country life experience. Our program includes a 2-night stay and a big day of adventure and exploring.
We know that the things we take for granted are the same things that many families don’t often get to do. Things like:

kids in boat2At the Pond
In our pond we have bluegills and bass along with frogs and ducks. We are fly fishing instructors and will help you and your kids catch a fish on a fly. After that the kids, depending on age, can take out the kayaks, wade around and explore with a butterfly net, feed the fish, get wet, skip stones, and other kid stuff.  camp20170613 110823

Waterfall Trail Hike
Ricketts Glen State Park is 15 minutes away and the main attraction is the Waterfall Trail. It’s an easy hike and one the Hikers on trailwhole family will enjoy. If you make it all the way to the top you’ll see Lake Jean. But remember, you have to go back down too! We’ll send you with a picnic lunch and don’t forget to stop at the Red Rock Scoop afterwards for an ice cream and a photo in the big chair!

Fly Fishing at the Stream
Fly fishing is what we do here. It’s a big part of our lives and we would love to share it with you. We will provide all the gear and will take you to our special water where you will see fish, learn to fly fish, and hopefully catch one! For this program, kids must be 13 and older (PA fishing license required for 16 and older, not included). See our website for details.

Life on the Farm
Next door is an equine farm and the owners love to show off the horses. Feed Chester a peppermint candy or brush tall Luke. Beware of Luna because she loves to give slobbery kisses! Learn how their feet are cleaned and maybe IMG 0438see their shoes changed. Climb on the hay bales, walk in the woods, or eat a string bean from the garden. It's all fun.

At the Stream
Bring old sneakers or Tevas and watch the kids splash around and explore with insect nets in the shallow water. They may find crayfish, caddis pupae and mayflies. Maybe we’ll see a bald eagle or a mink. There are swings for the younger kids and a chance to try fly fishing for the older kids. It’s also a great place to ride bikes which we can borrow from the farm. Mom and dad, don’t forget your old sneakers so you can join in the fun too.  Matthew West 1267

Memories are Forever

Our goal is to give your family a day packed with outdoor fun. We will include an evening campfire with marshmallows, hotdogs and hamburgers under the summer night sky and you and the kids can sleep in the tent in the yard at the Lodge — or sneak off to the comfort of your room inside. Your family group will have exclusive use of the Lodge at Raven Creek, 5 bedrooms, 2 baths, a great room and kitchen.

Please be assured that we understand kids. For instance, if your kids really take to the pond but not the fishing, we can kayak or go for a boat ride, look for frogs, or skip stones. If it’s the farm but not the horses, we’ll visit the goats and chickens, romp in the hay mow or take a walk in the woods.

Weekdays only. This program is not available on Saturdays and Sundays, with the exception of a Sunday evening arrival. All instructors have clearances to work with kids.
